Based on my Squeeze the Most Out of Your Money book, the Squeeze Your Money blog (SYM) was designed to help readers squeeze the most out of their money. Whether you are just starting out, in mid-career, retiring or already retired, we will include strategies to help you cope and prosper in good and bad times.
The #1 secret about money that many people fail to understand is that money is just not that good at managing itself.
After years as a financial consultant, working with clients at all levels, I noticed a troubling pattern. Many of my clients weren’t really managing their money they were just earning it and then hoping/praying/assuming that it would magically manage itself. But that just doesn’t work. So I designed the Squeeze Your Money System to provide them with an alternative to what I call MBC (Management By Chance). Unlike MBC, the Squeeze Your Money System provides a financial roadmap you can follow to achieve your goals, get out and stay our of debt, and have money left over after paying your bills because you’re in control of your money not the other way around. And if you are in a hurry to get going fast, you can read all about it in my book.
My concern with minding my money didn’t come until after my divorce. That was the first time I really understood the value of a dollar because I didn’t have any and very little to fall back on. I had been in a long-term marriage with a sporadic career because we moved a lot to further my spouse’s career so my career was all over the map. The one thing that I did have in my favor was an MBA and an idea that I should follow the money. So I became a financial advisor. But it wasn’t enough for me to just learn how to sell investments, I wanted to know everything so I studied, I became a Certified Financial Planner™, and then I started to teach others. I like teaching and it’s really true that the more you teach, the more you learn more so I use my classes and the Squeeze blog as a way to not only help others but to also get my teaching fix. ps!
